Get to know our newest RIDE Instructor, Sam:

Tell us about yourself…

I currently live in a village in North Wales called Mancot with my partner Karin, my 8 month old daughter Sofia and my 2 frenchies Nori & Belle. I am a Musician of 20 years and you’ll often see me posting Guitar performance on TikTok and trying to grow my online Guitar Tuition business. I also love training in the gym myself and enjoy sport, especially Football, supporting Manchester City.

When & why did you decide to become a PT?

I decided to become a PT in 2015. I developed a love & passion for Fitness after the gym had been a positive outlet for me to change my body and my lifestyle, during a difficult time in my life. My first job was as a Fitness Instructor at the Grosvenor Hotel in Pulford, from there I moved to Village Hotels Chester and eventually became the Fitness Manager, responsible for everything PT and Group Fitness. During this time I also qualified as a Level 4 Strength & Conditioning coach and I was awarded Fitness Manager of the year for Village Hotels in 2023. In December 2024 I decided to become a self employed Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor.

What do you love about your job?

I love helping people reach their fitness goals, and I love passing on my knowledge of over 10 years to achieve results for clients, that really change their lives for the better. I also love being self employed and being my own boss it has been the best decision of my career so far. Furthermore I would say that I absolutely love Group Fitness, which ultimately has led me to the team here at Instinct.

What is your favourite exercise? And Why?

I would say Burpee-Tuck Jump is my favourite exercise because I love to push myself with Intensity and this exercise reminds me of Les Mills Grit which is my absolute favourite group fitness program.

What is your least favourite exercise? And Why?

Not an exercise as such but at the moment I’m trying to improve my flexibility and mobility, so holding Frog Pose or deep Hindi Squat for an extended period of time is probably my least favourite as it becomes very uncomfortable

 What motivates you?

My daughter is what drives me in life now, everything I do is for her and my partner. I also set myself small fitness goals in the gym that keep me motivated daily.

 Quote to live by…

“Life constantly presents the greatest opportunity brilliantly disguised as the biggest disaster”

 What is your favourite treat?

Food wise my favourite treat is probably a Full English Breakfast…and drink wise I enjoy a pint of Guinness
